Recommended Off-Licences
DEFINITION: An "off-licence" can only sell alcohol to be consumed off their premises compared to a pub who can sell the alcohol to be consumed on and off their premises, although some places exist where you can't drink outside i.e. the city centre is a designated no drink area.
Booze Buster's (St Paul's Road) always has good deals and since 2003 also sells basic food stuffs.
Real Ale Shop / Barrel of Laughs (Lovat Road)
This place is legendary in the north west of England (been on TV and won CAMRA status etc).
Sells a multitude of drinks: Chinese beer, draught bitters and lagers from around the UK and Europe, (hand pumps) party barrels or fruit wines.
Adrian (the owner) can supply EVERYTHING. You won't be dissapointed. There's even a fancy dress department upstairs run by Adrian's lovely wife.
Opposite the 'Wines of the World' section is a comprehensive video / PC game library. What more do you want?
